On behalf of the organizing committee, as the IEEE Sections Congress Chair, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the IEEE Sections Congress 2026 (SC2026), a transformative gathering centered around the theme “Leading Technology for Global Good”.

This event will bring together IEEE volunteer leaders from over 300 Sections worldwide to collaborate, innovate, and share insights in an effort to amplify our collective impact. Together, we will explore how IEEE’s technological leadership can address some of humanity’s greatest challenges—ranging from sustainability and equitable access to ethical AI and beyond. Whether you are attending for the first time or returning as a seasoned volunteer, SC2026 will feature an inspiring program with engaging discussions, valuable networking opportunities, and pathways for professional growth.

Our goal is to make SC2026 an unforgettable experience. Through interactive workshops, global networking, and actionable strategies, you will leave equipped with the tools to strengthen your Section, inspire your community, and drive technology forward for the benefit of all. Let’s work together to shape a brighter future—through meaningful connections and innovative ideas that create lasting change.

A Section Chair is a leader, managing a team of volunteers each with specific responsibilities and jobs within the Section and beyond. These team members are also leaders, usually needing guidance, encouragement and vision. They are not paid, which gives the Section Chair no leverage to convince them to do their jobs well, aside from knowledge, available tools, and personal negotiation ability.

At Sections Congress each SC can meet hundreds of colleagues in similar positions and IEEE staff who will support them. Many will share very useful ideas for making a Section vibrant and dynamic. Section Congress brings to life the huge treasure trove of information and tools IEEE has available for the SCs. This experience has proved invaluable in the past to hundreds of volunteers. On top of this, the experience is FUN!

At Sections Congress 2026, IEEE volunteers will be able to share ideas and needs from their local IEEE communities to influence the direction of IEEE’s priorities. A key outcome of the Sections Congress will be the recommendations, where Sections all over the world will provide specific initiatives to tackle in the upcoming years.

This year’s theme, “Leading Technology for Global Good”, reaffirms IEEE’s commitment of serving humanity through responsible use of technology.

During the Congress, comprehensive training on all aspects of IEEE, including the necessary skills to succeed as a leader will be available to attendees.

Moreover, the Congress will allow to network, make friends, and have fun. Looking forward to meeting you at IEEE Sections Congress 2026, the voice of the grassroots in IEEE!
